Social Impact Assessment (SIA)

Social Impact Assessment (SIA)
SIASocial ScientistsBaseline

Assessments of how projects affect communities, livelihoods, norms and values, led by experienced social scientists.

We conduct comprehensive Social Impact Assessments to evaluate how projects interact with their surrounding human and cultural environments. The process analyses both positive and negative effects on local populations, focusing on communities, economic stability and daily way of life, including their norms, values and beliefs. Because every project is unique, we tailor the identification of impacts and mitigation strategies to the scale, type and life-cycle stage of each development.

We embed the SIA within the broader ESIA framework, and where required we conduct stand-alone SIAs. Public participation is the foundation of our data collection and analysis, so that community voices guide the outcomes. The work is led by our experienced social scientists, who bring extensive field expertise to every assessment.

Related services include Livelihood Restoration Plans, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) action plans, and Corporate Social Responsibility Plans (CSRP) with implementation support.
