Resettlement Action Plans (RAP)

We have extensive expertise in developing and overseeing Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) for major investment and development projects. Our core focus is restoring the assets and livelihoods of communities affected by these initiatives. Working with private-sector clients and government entities, we ensure resettlement strictly follows legal policies and international guidelines while minimising the impact on affected persons, and we assist clients through every stage of planning and implementation.

Specifically, we assist clients to

• Prepare the Resettlement Action Plan report
• Develop the valuation report of Project Affected Persons (PAPs)
• Develop the cost of relocating existing buildings or constructing new public infrastructure
• Set up an action plan for managing complaints and grievances
• Develop a survey identification system: a unique number tied to the survey, asset inventory and valuation for a household, institution, business or group
• Plan the programme of support for affected communities

Selected RAP assignments

• Farkwa Dam and water conveyance system to Dodoma City (Ministry of Water): PAP valuation report approved by the relevant authorities, resettlement entitlements, relocation of public infrastructure and a grievance action plan
• One-Stop Border Post at Kabanga, Ngara District (Tanzania Revenue Authority): resettlement planning for 31 households affected by the acquisition of 17.5 hectares of land
• Kabanga Nickel Company resettlement project, delivered through rePlan of Canada
• Mngeta Farm rice and bean redevelopment, Kilombero Valley (Kilombero Plantations Limited): a RAP prepared with Project Affected Persons, government authorities and the developer

We also prepare Resettlement Policy Frameworks (RPF), Livelihood Restoration Plans (LRP) and Land Acquisition Plans (LAP).
